A lot of laptops belong exclusively to one group. They are either functional, meaning you can use it for a number of reasons, or it is stylish. The Dell Studio XPS 16 seems to be a combination of both. While they be a bit more emphasis on the style, it still feels and looks as if Dell wanted something that has both: function and style.

 

The Dell Studio XPS 16 was manufactured with the business and home users in mind. If we had to compare it to other Dell products, we could say that it is slotted higher than both the Inspiron and Vostro series.

 

Let’s start with what is outside. The XPS is very beautiful not only to look at but also to touch. It has a glossy coat and some metal and leather trim. If people see you with this Dell Studio laptop, the first thing that comes into their minds is that you are living the good life.

 

Other laptops are aimed at a particular market. The Dell Studio XPS 16 is no different. It is targeted at people who want their laptops to have more entertainment-related features. For its price, it has a lot of features and is durable.

 

The XPS being stylish is not limited to its outside appearance. Even the inside shows this. The inside of the notebook shows a motif that appears to be black-on-black, giving it a classy et clean look. It has a full-sized keyboard that is very easy to use and a touchpad that is just as easy.

 

Even its screen shows some class. Other notebooks simply use a 15.6” LED display. The XPS on the other hand has a 16” RGBLED display. With the RGBLED, watching videos online or from a DVD becomes a very memorable experience. It doesn’t stop with the display. Even the sound system is excellent. The speakers are great as well as the audio card. Truly a wonderful entertainment experience.

 

If you’re not satisfied with the 16” screen, you can always use the VGA and HDMI ports to watch it on a bigger one. Aside from these two, it also has a host of standard ports like USB, FireWire and eSATA.

 

The one problem with the Dell Studio XPS 16 is that it tends to warm rather quickly. Battery life is also short.

 

Still, an 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi plus an ExpressCard slot and an 8-in-1 memory card reader may make up for it.

Pros:

Designed to be a class on its own, the Dell Studio XPS 16 is indeed a remarkable laptop. It has good quality and wonderful design. The RGBLED is something that you should look out for. The two ports, VGA and HDMI, allow you to connect to external displays like a projector or a larger television set for a better viewing experience.

 

Cons:

The design may be classy but its surface tends to get dirty easily especially when it comes to fingerprints. It has a short battery life and quickly heats up.

 

Conclusion:

If you are planning to buy a laptop that you can use both for business and at home, then go with the Dell Studio XPS 16. The many features like the RGB LED makes up for its few flaws. No wonder most people put this at the top of their lists when buying laptops.
